Miss Elena’s Quilt

Well it is finally done! I was able to quilt and bind Elena’s quilt this weekend. She already seems to know that it is hers. She loves to be wrapped in it and play peek a boo. It is far from perfect but it was my first quilt that I machine quilted in a larger size with blocks! Next time I would do a few things differently but it is a learning process right?!?! It was kind of windy when we went outside to take a picture so the front is a little wonky (I didn’t sew that crazy!). The pattern is called a disappearing nine patch. You can find a tutorial here. I made 24 nine patch blocks out of 4 inch squares before quartering them. I then added a four inch border. The final size of the quilt is 44” by 64” which fits the Ikea middle size of the extendable bed perfectly for when she is a little bigger. Most of the fabric is from the line  Santorini by Lila Tueller which I bought a couple years ago.
